Every year I have a handful of friends who will fly me out to new places to photograph weddings with them. Kate Anfinson brought me out to Carmel Valley for Cupi and Kyle’s wedding. I’m so glad she did because I finally got a taste of the beauty that is the "California wedding".
Cupi and Kyle are the quintessential adorable couple. She's a teacher, he's a firefighter, and they are just too perfect and cute. They love each others families deeply, they laugh and poke fun at each other, and love each other fiercely. Their wedding was held at a beautiful Californian ranch nestled in the hills of Carmel Valley in early October. The air was crisp and fragrant and the blue skies were dotted with fluffy clouds over head. The florals were lush, natural and full of texture. The couple has a keen sense of style and they mixed their modern style with romantic tones. Everything about this wedding was a beautiful representation of the couple.
Up until this point, I never really understood what makes California so divine, so desirable for weddings not just for couples, but for vendors as well. This wedding basically covered every reason possible. The ceremony was outdoors, under gorgeous trees, with beautiful glowing light. After the ceremony, guests moved to a beautiful cocktail space and were treated to a teeming charcuterie display, delicious cocktails and fun activities. The couple and their guests dined al fresco under bistro lights and a beautiful chandelier as the sunset behind the hills. The temperature dropped and after toasts and formal dances, everyone lounged around the outdoor fires with a yummy s'more setup and finally, after a the couple made their rounds greeting their guests, they lead everyone into one the main rooms for an energetic dance party.
I reluctantly returned to Austin but left with a promise from Kate to fly me out again for another spectacular Californian wedding.
